What blogging taught me…

Hey bloggers, I’m sure I’m the most unqualified person to be writing this post as I am a new blogger, but still, I have a lot of things that I have learnt from the experience so far. When I started out, I thought yeah write a post and let the magic happen, boy was I naive! There is so much more to this than just relaying thoughts from the mind. It’s kind of like a skill… Bloggers we are skilled people. Maybe Australia will let me migrate there now!
Here are some useful things I have learnt from blogging

[a few new additions]

  1. I have learnt that photography is not joke. It is not acceptable to post up a picture that does not look professional.
  2. I have learnt that socialising is key. By talking to other bloggers and setting up a social media account I was able to meet some really great people, if you’re reading this then hey.
  3. I have learnt that it takes time. It would be too presumptuous to assume people would actually care so you’ve gotta sit back and be patient
  4. I have learnt that commitment pays off. I try to blog everyday with a new fresh idea and sometimes I just think IDEAS EMERGE please for the sake of my blog
  5. I have learnt blogging is exciting, when I’m walking or doing something and I think of a new blog idea I literally become consumed with the idea and can’t wait to post
  6. I have learnt that my blog is like a baby, it needs constant care and development and can keep you awake all night
  7. I have learnt you lose concept of time, what seems like 1 hour turns out to be 11 hours
  8. I have learnt that there is so much more to know about the world. Your posts render the most enticing reads that I love coming back here and checking out new posts
  9. I have learnt that typo’s are just pure incompetence. When I am in a rush I just post it without re reading. Then when I have some time I’ll read it and think, was I drunk?
  10. I have learnt that having a passion and hobby is satisfying. I used to lack confidence in fields like this but blogging has taught me that it is all worth it
  11. I have learnt to get more creative. I designed the featured image on this post, although simply I am relatively proud. Also once I have a decent amount of money I’d love to invest in a custom template…
  12. I have learnt the necessity of proof reading
  13. The importance of commitment and time management
  14. All things worth having are worth working towards!

So for anyone else who is considering blogging I definite want to recommend this, let us call it a learning curve, because without this I may never have learnt the things I have. Bloggers? I have sure there is something on the list of 10 that you to can relate with.

What is it that you have learnt from blogging!?

  1. Blogging is basically journalism but much better because you are free to say what you like. Journalists on the other hand have to please their editors and accommodate their articles to the requirements of the publication that they write for which is why a lot of journalism is distorted with hype and misinformation . In other words they are not free to express themselves fully therefore their opinions and creativity are restricted.
Also journalists write and publish articles but don’t interact with the public while bloggers do so they know what others think of what they write. All this said blogging is the best launching platform possible for those who aspire to become journalists or writers. Though I think that it’s much nicer and less stressful to be a blogger than a professional journalist or even a writer.

    1. I totally agree, with a blog it is yours and what you uploads is of your own choice! I’d hate for my writing to be dictated by someone else. And you’re right in the sense it is a lot more of a personal way to communicate with others.

      1. I’ve nominated you for a free style writing competition these are the rules. That you have to copy paste at the beginning. Good Luck!

        Free Style Writing Challenge

I was nominated by: https://partandparcel2014.wordpress.com/for a free style writing challenge.

So here are Rules I had to follow (copied from AdiC’s) :
        1.Open an MS Word document
2.Set a stop watch or your mobile to 5 minutes or 10 minutes whichever challenge you think you can beat.
3.You topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH A TIMER.
4.Fill the word doc with as much words as you want. once you began writing do not stop even to turn.
5.Do not cheat by going back and correcting spellings and grammar with spell check in MS WORD (it is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write the right spelling and stick to grammar rules)
6.You may or may not pay attention to punctuation and capitals. However if you do, it would be best.
7.At the end of your post write down ‘No. Of words =_____’ so that we would have an idea of how much you can write within the time frame.
8.Do not forget to copy paste the entire passage on your blog post with a new Topic for your nominees and copy paste these rules with your nominations (at least 5 bloggers).

        GOOD LUCK!

  2. Relate to number 7 so much! Every week I think it’ll only take me an hour or so to get a post published but then six hours later I’m still editing the colour of my text. It’s worth it in the end though!

  3. I especially like #10 on this list. I started playing the violin again as an adult after a long break, and that was 8 years ago. I’ve kept with it for those 8 years partly because I also started blogging about it around the same time. Blogging gave me confidence and kept me focused on the big picture of violin playing and helped me not get discouraged and quit, which can happen particularly with hobbies that one doesn’t make into a livelihood.
